Nach über einer Woche auf Vancouver Island, geht es für uns nun zurück aufs Festland Kanadas. Mit der Fähre setzen wir von Nanaimo zurück nach Horseshoe Bay über. Hatten wir zuvor nicht allzu viel Glück mit der Sichtung von Walen, so konnten wir nun direkt von der Fähre aus das Schauben und die Fontänen von sieben Buckelwalen beobachten.
After more than a week spent on Vancouver Island, it’s time for us to return to the Canadian mainland. We take the ferry from Nanaimo back to Horseshoe Bay. We were not too lucky with the sighting of whales before, but now we could watch the puffing and fountains of a total of seven humpback whales directly from the deck of the ferry.
Von der Abgeschiedenheit im Norden von Vancouver Island, kamen wir nun in den Trubel der Grossstad Vancouver. Wir besuchen Gastown wo wir (und viele andere) der Dampf getriebenen Uhr beim Pfeiffen um 10 Uhr zuschauen und schlendern am Hafen entlang. Die riesigen Kreuzfahrtschiffe wirken fast wie ein weiterer Stadtteil Vancouvers.
From the remoteness in the north of Vancouver Island, we now came to the hustle and bustle of the big city of Vancouver. We visit Gastown, where we (and many others) watch the steam driven clock whistle at 10 o’clock and stroll along the harbor. The huge cruise ships almost seem like another city district of Vancouver.
