Langsam verlassen wir die waldigen Regionen und erreichen das Utah, so wie wir es eigentlich erwartet hatten: gelber und roter Sandstein und Wüstenlandschaft. Wir machen uns in Richtung des Goblin Valley State Parks auf, wo wir uns mit Birgit und Christian verabredet haben. Die beiden und ihren Land Rover Defender hatten wir das erste Mal auf Malcolm Island noch in Kanada getroffen. Nach der Übernachtung an einem tollen abgeschiedenen Platz zwischen den vom Wind geformten Felsen machen wir uns auf Backroads in Richtung des Little Wild Horse Canyon auf.
Gradually we leave the wooded regions and reach the Utah, as we had actually expected it: yellow and red sandstone and desert landscape. We set off in the direction of the Goblin Valley State Park, where we have arranged to meet Birgit and Christian. We had met them and their Land Rover Defender for the first time on Malcolm Island back in Canada. After spending the night at a great secluded spot between the wind shaped rocks, we set off towards Little Wild Horse Canyon.
Der Little Wild Horse Canoyn ist ein sogenannter «Slot Canyon». Zwischenzeitlich bleibt kaum ein fussbreit Boden frei um sich zwischen den Steilwänden zu bewegen und voran zu schieben.
The Little Wild Horse Canyon is a so-called «slot canyon». At times, hardly a foot of ground remains free to move between the steep walls and to push forward.
Mitten im Canyon treffen wir erst auf einen orangen Instrumentenkoffer, dann auf einen Fotografen und um die Ecke erspähen wir einen sehr gut gekleideten Musiker. Offenbar findet gerade ein Covershooting an diesem tollen Ort statt. Birgit fragt, ob wir bleiben und zuhören dürfen. So sind wir – völlig unerwarteter Weise, bei einem kleinen Privatkonzert gelandet.
In the middle of the canyon, we first encounter an orange instrument case, then a photographer, and around the corner we spot a very well-dressed musician. It appears that a cover shoot is just taking place at this great location. Birgit asks if we could stay and listen. So we – completely unexpectedly, ended up at a small private concert.
